Ares, el dios de la guerra.

El gran planeta rojo: Marte. Nombrado así por su clara similitud con la sangre y la violencia, lo que, por tanto, recobra su fundamento al ser consagrado bajo esencia de Ares, dios griego de la guerra, correspondiente a Marte en la mitología romana.

Gustav Holst, compositor inglés del siglo XX, compone esta Suite, titulada: Los Planetas. Con motivo del enorme influjo de la ciencia en aquellos años, y claramente, con la necesidad de honrar a la cultura antigua que es pilar de todo Occidente: la antigua Grecia .

Marte, para Holst, es el portador de la guerra; la pieza es una marcha bélica plagada de vehemencia: clara similitud con todo aquel enorme vestigio que tenemos en nuestras mentes del violento y extático Ares.
